About Speaking Science

National and international scientists and educationists have volunteered to share their ideas and thoughts on a range of current issues. While exposing the audience to frontiers in science, technology and engineering each session will include a video film demonstrating the basic principles that form the basis of the work. These will be web based colloquiums open to interested academicians and scholars. Each session will be planned in advance and will comprise a brief introduction of the speaker, a crisp presentation and discussion with the participants. Promotion of methods of science and maths and skills for critical thinking are the keys to developing a strong nation. SPEAKING SCIENCE is an important medium to attract bright minds to careers in research in frontier areas of science. Interested teachers of science and mathematics and high school students will find the series very engaging and useful.

About Science Communication

Science, engineering and technology are becoming more complex and impacting on the life of a common man. Health, education, transportation, food and agriculture are witnessing major progress and many developments leave impact on our environment. To meaningfully participate in development debates and understand the issues being discussed in gram panchayats or state assemblies we need to promote SCIENCE COMMUNICATION. Scientists and experts are not necessarily good communicators. Many factors require to be considered to ensure that the right message reaches the audience without distortion. This is the multidisciplinary field that is at the core of NOSTC

Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School (LFHSS), is named to honor Sir Richard Livingstone, the 20th century writer

moralist and educationist. He believed that education must provide a philosophy of life, and a sense of value. He also believed that, “Education is atmosphere as well as instruction”. It must bring home to the students the greatest of all problems—the problem of living and guidance in life—to differentiate between what is first-rate from what is not. If the school sends out children with desire for knowledge and some idea of how to acquire and use it, then we consider our work complete. LFHSS is situated away from the hustle-bustle of daily activities. Yet, it is not so far away that it deprives children of human contact or social interaction. The location of the school itself is conducive to mental activities. An aura of peace and tranquility can be experienced here.
