Very few school students meet active leading scientists and make career defining decisions based on incomplete information.

Very few school students meet active leading scientists and make career defining decisions based on incomplete information. This project will provide a wide cross section of school students to interact with about 12 scientists each over a period of one year. The sessions will be structured to provide students perspective about careers in scientific research and teaching.

School science teaching comprises lecture and practical sessions to complete the syllabus with frequent/ regular assessments. Most students do not appreciate the subject and study it only as a means of clearing board exam or professional course entrance requirement. Most scientists in addition to research and teaching interact with other specialists at professional level but feel spending time with school kids is worthwhile. Logistics turns them off.

Objectives: To introduce students to developments in modern science and technology; To create awareness about careers in scientific research and teaching; To explain impact of modern science in solving social problems; To build bridges between leading scientists and teachers and students.
